I was in my final year of graduate school when I was in a serious car accident. I suffered a traumatic brain injury, and following an extended stay in the hospital, the symptoms lingered. I had problems with keeping track of time, forgetfulness, anxiety and migraines. I had frequent nightmares, and sometimes difficulty with my balance. Shortly after that, I was diagnosed with epilepsy, due to the trauma, and it led to several types of seizures. Medication was not successful, and because of the nature of the epilepsy, surgery was not an option. I was prescribed tons of painkillers, anti-seizure pills and antidepressants, and the side effects led to issues with my intestines. This went on for several years, and I felt that the medications were doing more harm than good. I had developed severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and Type II diabetes. I finally turned to medicinal cannabis, as my last hope, and everything changed. While all the traditional options had failed to offer relief, I noticed immediate improvement. After a few weeks of smoking medical marijuana, the migraines and seizures all but disappeared. I was able to stop taking antidepressants and diabetes medication, and suddenly, my memory was so much better. I then started taking cannabis orally, and it has been a medical miracle. Following so many years of disappointment, it feels wonderful to return to the person I once was. CBD and THC helped me with all my different types of seizures, when nothing else even came close to being effective. I am so grateful to have discovered the healing powers of medical cannabis, and I am now determined to share my story with others.
