I was in college when I was in a terrible car accident. I suffered from a traumatic brain injury. I then endured an extended stay in the hospital. Once I was released, the symptoms lingered. I had difficulty with making sense of time, and dealt with forgetfulness, anxiety and migraines. I had frequent nightmares, and occasionally difficulty with my balance. Shortly after that, I was diagnosed with epilepsy, from the trauma, and it then led to multiple seizures. Medication was not helpful, and because of the type of epilepsy, surgery was not viable. I was prescribed a long list of painkillers, anti-seizure pills and antidepressants. These medications led to side effects, including issues with my intestines. This continued for years, and the medications were doing more harm than good. I gradually developed drastic anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and Type II diabetes. As a last resort, I finally turned to medicinal cannabis. There was a drastic change. While traditional treatments had failed to alleviate my symptoms, I suddenly realized immediate improvement. For a few weeks, I smoked medical marijuana, and the migraines and seizures basically disappeared. I stopped taking antidepressants and diabetes medication, and my memory improved. I then started on cannabis orally, and it was the equivalent of a medical miracle. Following so much disappointment, it feels fantastic to feel like the person I once was. CBD and THC has stopped my various types of seizures, when nothing else even offered the slightest relief. I am grateful to have discovered the healing opportunities of medical cannabis, and I am now working to share my story with others.
